Scikit-learn is a free and open-source Python library for machine learning built on SciPy. More than 2,000 contributors cooperate in the development of the software, which is the 3rd most visited in the world (70 million visits by 2021) and has received the 2019 Inria-Académie des Sciences Innovation Award. The creators and developers of Scikit-learn offer an online training to learn how to build predictive models and consider the benefits and limitations of machine learning.

The "Machine learning in Python with scikit-learn" training

This 36 hours online training, about 2h45 mn per week, will be done in English, it is planned for 13 weeks. Registrations started on January 17 and will be open until May 9, 2022. The courses start on February 15, 2022 and will end on May 17, 2022. It will teach the basics of machine learning as well as the use of the scikit-learn Python library and is intended for anyone with basic knowledge of Python programming: defining variables, writing functions, importing modules. Previous experience with the NumPy, Pandas and Matplotlib libraries is recommended but not required. The training, based on application examples with code executed by the participants, will be mainly practical. All materials for this free MOOC will be available on a github repository. This MOOC will allow to :
  • understand the fundamental concepts of machine learning;
  • build a predictive modeling pipeline with scikit-learn;
  • develop the intuitions behind machine learning models, from linear models to decision trees;
  • Evaluate the statistical performance of models.
