Morocco: Launch of the first international community innovation competition organized by the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region

The first international community innovation challenge "Smart Territory development, investment & entrepreneurship digital challenge" (TDC2022) was recently launched, whose objective is to promote the potential of the regions of Tangier, Tetouan and Al Hoceima to develop an attractive, dynamic and digitalized territory. Organized by the Regional Investment Center of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region (CRI-TTA), the Agency for the Promotion and Development of the North (APDN) and the Tangier Med Special Agency (TMSA), this international challenge aims to develop an attractive, dynamic and digitalized Moroccan territory, based on the promotion of technological, economic and cultural innovation

A challenge open to all

The organizers invite all companies and startups, all entrepreneurs, students, professionals, and anyone with an innovative idea to participate in this online hackathon and submit their ideas to strengthen the attractiveness of the Tangier - Tetouan - Al Hoceima Region. before June 30, 2022. The program aims to develop territorial attractiveness, a sustainable economy, artificial intelligence and digital transformation. Three challenges are proposed for each of these three areas.

Territorial attractiveness

The attractiveness of the territory can be strengthened through the development of sustainable and cultural tourism, the establishment of quality health services as well as access to education in rural areas in order to develop an important factor: human capital. The three challenges are therefore about:

• Tourism and culture;
• Health and wellness;
• Sustainable development.

A sustainable economy

The economic performance of territories must be thought of in a sustainable way. The three challenges are based on the acceleration of :

• Green energy;
• Circular economy;
• Blue economy.

Artificial intelligence and digital transformation

Industry 4.0 and the development of autonomous and intelligent solutions and infrastructures are investment opportunities for the region. The three challenges address the following key sectors:

• Logistics and trade;
• Industry;
• Smart city.

How the challenge works

At the time of registration, before June 30, the candidate chooses one of the 9 challenges proposed. He/she creates a project page where he/she presents his/her solution idea and can then participate in the platform's launch webinar on May 6. Then, they will be able to build their solution with the help of mentors during online interviews, attend various webinars on the theme of their project to better understand local issues and thus complete their project page. A jury will select the finalist projects that will be presented on July 13th during the Demo Day.

The awards

Three grand prizes will be awarded to the best projects ($15,000, $10,000 and $7,000). In addition to these, support will be offered to the winners to help them deploy the best possible solution, by facilitating access to financing and to a network of private/public investors, public subsidies, infrastructure and land, a network of experts, and the Moroccan and African market. In addition, they will benefit from personalized support from CRI-TTA.
