The Agence nationale de la performance sanitaire et médico-sociale (Anap) recently put AI to the test in an unprecedented challenge aimed at measuring its effectiveness in optimizing hospital schedules. The verdict is clear: 4 out of the 5 best schedules were created using AI solutions, demonstrating their potential to lighten the workload of healthcare workers and improve the organization of facilities.
During this challenge, 20 healthcare managers competed over one day. Half of them used a traditional spreadsheet, while the other half relied on an AI solution (Hopia, Probayes, Swappy, Medhop, or Optacare). The jury, composed of industry professionals, evaluated the quality of the schedules created and declared AI the winner.
Mastery of time management also proved crucial as 2 managers using the same AI solution did not achieve the same score.
Matthieu Girier, director of the HR performance division at Anap, emphasizes:
"The results of the Duel show that AI solutions work and are capable of saving time and relieving teams. 3 AI solutions ranked in the top 5 of the best schedules. This also shows that some solutions need to gain precision to be perfectly adapted to healthcare and medico-social establishments. This is why we will support developers to strengthen the maturity of their solutions. In parallel, we will offer healthcare facilities dedicated on-site support for the deployment of AI for schedule management."
Launch of the Observatory of AI Uses in Healthcare
Beyond schedule management, AI has numerous applications in the healthcare sector: aiding diagnosis, improving patient experience, personalizing care, optimizing financial management...To structure and disseminate best practices, Anap and the Direction Générale de l’Offre de Soins (DGOS) are launching the Observatory of AI Uses in Healthcare. This digital platform currently lists around fifty concrete use cases, which will be enriched by active monitoring and contributions from industry professionals.
Stéphane Pardoux, general director of Anap, explains:
"On the ground, many facilities are mobilizing AI solutions that make a difference. Our challenge: to make these uses known, document them, and share them so they multiply across our country".
Perf.IA: A National Event Dedicated to Concrete AI Uses
To promote the adoption of these tools by professionals, Anap will organize Perf.IA on October 14, 2025, in Montrouge. This event, part of the national AI roadmap in healthcare, will be an opportunity to discover feedback, participate in thematic workshops, and exchange best practices for integrating AI into healthcare facilities.
