Dassault Systèmes and Fondation FondaMental Launch Sovereign Health Data Warehouse to Advance Psychiatric Research

TLDR : Dassault Systèmes and Fondation FondaMental launch a Health Data Warehouse (HDW) for psychiatric research, centralizing and securing complex clinical data. This tool could accelerate the development of precision psychiatry and the use of AI in analyzing pathologies and treatment effectiveness.

On May 20, Dassault Systèmes and Fondation FondaMental announced the deployment of a Health Data Warehouse (HDW) dedicated to psychiatry. As mental health has been designated a National Great Cause in 2025, this initiative aligns with public health priorities: enhancing research and innovation capabilities by structuring and leveraging complex clinical data within a sovereign and highly secure framework.

For several years, mental health disorders have shown a worrying progression, especially among young adults. This trend positions mental health as a central issue in our healthcare system. According to estimates, one in four French people will face a mental disorder in their lifetime.

Structuring Research Around Quality Data

Founded in 2007 at the initiative of the Ministry of Research, Fondation FondaMental is dedicated to research and improving psychiatric care. Its work focuses on complex pathologies such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, treatment-resistant depression, or autism spectrum disorders. It coordinates a network of 54 Expert Centers, where patients referred by their doctor receive a comprehensive assessment (somatic, psychiatric, and neuropsychological). Over 20,000 patients have been followed, each contributing to the collection of more than 2,000 clinical variables. This volume of data, previously dispersed, now gains value through its consolidation in a structured warehouse.

A Sovereign Digital Infrastructure for Precision Psychiatry

Historically positioned in industrial modeling and digital twins, Dassault Systèmes has gradually expanded its focus to healthcare, making it one of its three strategic pillars. Through its 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the company develops simulation and data management solutions applied to biology, clinical research, and patient care pathways. The acquisition of Medidata in 2019, a major player in the virtualization of clinical trials, marked a decisive step in this strategy.
The HDW relies on the sovereign cloud of its subsidiary OUTSCALE. Certified as a Health Data Hosting (HDH) and qualified SecNumCloud 3.2 by ANSSI, it guarantees an environment meeting the most stringent standards in terms of security and digital sovereignty. This infrastructure allows rigorous and confidential data exploitation while providing researchers and clinicians with the means to analyze pathologies' evolution and treatment effectiveness on a large scale.
The centralization of this wealth of information within the warehouse opens up new perspectives: better coordination between healthcare professionals, relapse prediction, evaluation of therapeutic strategies, development of new protocols... The HDW could thus become a central tool in the emergence of precision psychiatry, tailored to patients' individual profiles. This model also paves the way for a controlled use of AI, akin to innovations in medical imaging.

Towards Generalization to Other Medical Fields

Building on this initial achievement, Dassault Systèmes already plans to extend this approach to other therapeutic areas: rare diseases, cardiovascular pathologies, diabetes, neurosciences. A strategy that outlines a data-driven medicine, combining personalized care, technological power, and a rigorous ethical framework.
Philippe Miltin, CEO of OUTSCALE, concludes:
"By collaborating with Fondation FondaMental, we put innovation at the service of mental health research that is both secure, compliant, and driven by the most advanced technologies. This Secure Health Data Space paves the way for a new collective dynamic around health data, benefiting all. It embodies a strong ambition: to build, together, a more personalized, predictive, and humane medicine, driven by AI and the Cloud. A true reference model for other institutions wishing to engage in this transformation."

What is HDS certification and why is it important for healthcare data storage?

HDS (Health Data Hosting) certification is a French standard ensuring that data storage infrastructures comply with strict criteria concerning the security, confidentiality, and protection of health data. It is crucial for ensuring legal compliance and enhancing trust in safeguarding sensitive data.
