Areas of Expertise and Key Achievements
The Confiance.ai program focuses on developing reliable and certifiable artificial intelligence for critical systems such as autonomous vehicles, industrial control, and decision support systems. One of its main achievements is the creation of a trusted environment, comprising over 100 software components designed to ensure the robustness, explainability, and regulatory compliance of AI systems.
This initiative revolves around several strategic axes, including trustworthy AI by design, data and knowledge engineering, and trustworthy AI for embedded systems. These axes aim to overcome the scientific and technological barriers hindering the adoption of AI in critical sectors such as automotive, aerospace, and energy.
Recent Contributions and Notable Projects
Confiance.ai has recently concluded strategic partnerships, notably with VDE in Germany, to create a Franco-German label on trustworthy AI, aligned with the forthcoming European AI Act standards. This label aims to establish guidelines for AI applications, addressing issues of ethics, safety, and responsibility.
The program has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with EUROCAE, aiming to contribute to the creation of new standards for AI systems in aviation. These international collaborations highlight Confiance.ai's commitment to influencing regulation and standards in the field of industrial AI globally.
Position in the Technological Ecosystem
Confiance.ai stands as a key player in the European AI landscape, thanks to its extensive network of partners, which includes start-ups, innovative SMEs, and research laboratories. This collective actively participates in the operational implementation of the future European AI Act, providing a technical environment that meets the highest standards of safety and reliability.
With over 50 industrial and academic partners, Confiance.ai is at the heart of a dynamic ecosystem that fosters innovation and the adoption of trustworthy AI across various sectors. It contributes to the formation of a global community around trustworthy AI, with established partnerships in Quebec and Germany.
Recent Developments and News
In 2024, as the program concludes, Confiance.ai continues to look forward with the creation of the European Trustworthy AI Foundation. This foundation aims to sustain and industrialize the results obtained while uniting a European community around shared standards for trustworthy AI.
Emphasis is also placed on new research and technology (R&T) projects, including generative AI and cybersecurity for critical systems. These initiatives aim to enrich existing methods and adapt them to new application domains, thereby reinforcing France's position as a leader in trustworthy AI.
Confiance.ai calls for the mobilization of all European actors to shape the future of industrial AI in Europe, highlighting the need for public, private, and academic collaborations to build a trusted ecosystem around AI.
