Skema and La Redoute, the e-commerce giant, have signed a partnership to train the future digital players in companies.

Skema, School of Knowledge Economy and Management, defines itself as “the global school that prepares the talents of the companies of the 21st century – responsible, mobile, multicultural, entrepreneurial talents, managers of information, data and knowledge”. It is highly ranked in the business school rankings and as part of the development of partnerships with companies, signed an agreement with the French e-commerce giant, La Redoute, on December 7.

Founded in 1837, La Redoute has seen many innovations: the creation of the catalogue in 1928, taking orders by telephone in 1970, and being one of the first to use the internet as a sales tool in 1999. However, the company will experience many setbacks: image of an aging company, labor disputes, poor sales before being bought by the Galeries Lafayette group in 2017. Since then, La Redoute, the former leader in mail order has become a major player in e-commerce. In 2019, La Redoute is hiring Samir Amellal, a graduate of Skema Business School, with the ambition to build a strategy driven by data, innovation and technology and Artificial Intelligence to improve products, customer services and the customer experience.

The expertise of La Redoute, leader in e-commerce.

Samir Amellal’s expertise will enable La Redoute to continue its development, particularly in Artificial Intelligence. To this end, it has just signed a partnership with Skema Talent & Careers. This fast-track training programme helps students with their career plans and job searches. Jean-François Detout, programme director of the MDCE (Marketing Data and E-commerce) Specialised Masters, for whom this partnership makes sense, states:

We collaborate with La Redoute, particularly in the context of Digital Consulting Week, and we have a lot of work-study students who work for La Redoute.”

Thanks to this agreement, La Redoute will have access to the students’ CVThèque, will participate in the 3 Talent & Careers recruitment forums and will organise conferences on topical subjects such as leadership or female tech.

Samir Amellal will represent La Redoute on the Board of Directors of the MS Manager Marketing Data & E-Commerce, which allows the teaching to evolve with the needs of the market. The company will offer an innovative course on Dataviz (data visualization through graphs, multidimensional tables…) to the students of this program.
