Orano Group and its partners launch the udd@Orano project for industrial innovation

A development project called udd@Orano (Usines de demain sur les sites industriels d’Orano) was launched by the Orano group (formerly Areva) and brings together 11 industrial partners for a period of 36 months: 6 small and medium-sized companies (Aeraccess, Axionable, Diota, Ob’dO, Shark Robotics, Sileane), 2 large companies (Predict, Probayes) and 3 research organizations (CEA, École des Mines de Saint-Étienne and Université Jean Monnet de Saint-Étienne). This project aims to deploy the factory of the future at the heart of the group’s industrial sites. Together, they will ” pool their expertise to develop and implement new technological solutions“.

This project aims to develop research work on :

  • the design of innovative miniaturized sensors for more effective radiological measurements.
  • New algorithms based on artificial intelligence to facilitate decision support and anticipation of actions.
  • Mixed reality platforms based on 3D digital models and the dematerialization of workflows to assist operators in their missions in constrained environments.
  • New robots to perform complex operations remotely and automate simple tasks.

They explained in a joint press release:

“These new solutions, applicable to the nuclear sector and the entire industry, aim to continue to place Orano’s industrial sites at the highest technological levels with a view to improving performance, production, plant competitiveness and operator safety.”

Meeting the criteria of the government-initiated stimulus plan, the udd@Orano project benefits from a €10.48 million grant awarded by France Relance to all partners. More than 11 million euros per year of turnover from 2025 are announced for the VSE and SME partners, with the creation of more than 70 direct qualified jobs on the national territory and as many indirect jobs.
