ENGIE wins the Grand Prix 2020 of the ESSEC Accenture Chair thanks to an advanced data analysis tool

Engie won the 2020 Grand Prize of the ESSEC Accenture “Strategic Business Analytics” (SBA) Chair. Partner of the SBA Chair for two years, ENGIE proposed to a group of five students to work from November to June on a concrete use case of data analysis: how to optimize the data collected via ENGIE&Me, the annual survey conducted by the Human Resources Department (HRD) among the 170,000 employees of the group.

With the help of artificial intelligence, the students carried out an in-depth analysis of the employees’ answers to the open-ended questions in the survey, in order to derive meaningful information and indications of their overall commitment to the company. They also created a dashboard from this data to enable ENGIE’s HR department to visualize and analyze it over time.

The jury, made up of members of ESSEC, Accenture and a representative from each of the eleven participating companies, rewarded the innovative nature of the analysis and the effectiveness of a model that offers ENGIE concrete avenues for improving employee engagement. The semantic analysis tool designed by the students has already been adopted by ENGIE, which will use it to analyze the responses to its next annual surveys.
