Collibra announces new investment from Snowflake Ventures as part of their partnership

Founded in 2008, the Belgian start-up Collibra supports companies in the use and management of their data flows thanks to its SaaS Data Intelligence Cloud platform. On Tuesday, January 11, it announced a new investment from Snowflake Ventures, the venture arm of Snowflake, a data cloud specialist. Collibra and Snowflake have already established a partnership, and this investment will expand Collibra’s policy enforcement capabilities at scale and improve data traceability with Snowflake.

Snowflake Ventures invests in growth-stage companies that demonstrate a commitment to mobilizing data, delivering value to its customers and expanding opportunities for the data cloud. The Brussels-based start-up Collibra, meanwhile, is experiencing rapid growth, accelerating its international expansion in a variety of sectors, including financial services, manufacturing and healthcare. This new investment from Snowflake will allow the company to continue “its mission to revolutionize the way organizations use data, with the belief that governed, accessible and trusted data has the power to change the game.

Collibra’s partnership with Snowflake

Collibra’s Data Intelligence Cloud is a single system of engagement that unifies data governance, privacy, catalog, flow and quality. The Snowflake Data Cloud provides a scalable platform for aggregating, storing and analyzing data.
Using Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud to collect data stored on the Snowflake platform allows organizations to easily discover and adapt data access. Snowflake’s platform is extremely flexible, scalable; Collibra, built with governance at its core, is open and extensible, facilitating data democratization and collaboration across the enterprise.

The unique features and complementary capabilities of the two platforms enable organizations to increase data usage, collaboration and ultimately help companies deliver insights and innovations faster. Joint customers of Collibra and Snowflake will be able to ensure that their platform is properly governed and that data can be easily retrieved, analyzed, trusted, securely accessed or shared.

Christian Kleinerman, SVP Product at Snowflake said:

“Snowflake and Collibra share a common commitment to the democratization of data and the empowerment of organizations to build a robust data culture . Our customers have shown a keen interest in extending our partnership with Collibra, and this new investment will further strengthen our collaboration to give them easy and secure access to the data they need, when they need it.”

As for Laura Sellers, SVP, Product Management at Collibra:

“We look forward to expanding our integration and aligning product roadmaps with Snowflake as we work to unite organizations around governed, accessible and trusted data. We are confident that our strong partnership will be a game-changer for organizations seeking a faster return on their data investments.”

In November 2021, Collibra announced a $250 million Series G financing, more than doubling its valuation to $5.25 billion. With more than 500 customers worldwide using Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud, they find data catalog, governance, lineage, quality and privacy solutions unify their businesses “around one set – the right set – of facts.”
