The French Tech Mission launches the Health20 program for healthcare start-ups

The sectoral programs of the Mission French Tech aim to support start-ups positioned in sectors identified as strategic in the framework of France 2030. After Green20, Agri20, DeepNum20, it is now the turn of the French Tech Health20 program to launch a call for applications: start-ups that want to be among the 20 winners have until December 4 to submit their applications.

The French Mission has launched the French Tech Health20, its support program dedicated to start-ups in the health sector, in line with the Health Innovation 2030 plan, to which the government is devoting 7 billion euros, and in partnership with the Health Innovation Agency (AIS) as part of its HealthTech support mission.

This 4th program of the French Tech Mission aims to select and support start-ups proposing disruptive innovations, whether services or products, providing a very high level of differentiation compared to existing solutions, with a potential for large-scale deployment. These innovations must, as a priority, offer solutions to the challenges identified in the France 2030 plan:

  • Biotherapies and Bioproduction of innovative therapies;
  • Biomedicines;
  • Innovative medical devices;
  • Digital health;
  • Infectious and Emerging Diseases.

To be eligible for the French Tech Health20 program, in addition to proposing a disruptive innovation corresponding to the above-mentioned areas, the applicant company must be independent and have its headquarters located in France.

After submission of the applications, by December 4 at the latest, the start-ups’ applications will be studied by the Mission French Tech teams, experts from the Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and the Ministry of Health and Prevention to shortlist the companies that will join the audition phase.

As for the other sector programs, the shortlisted companies will then be auditioned by an independent jury of leading figures.

The 20 selected start-ups will join the first class of the Health20 program and will be offered one year of dedicated support from the government departments responsible for the targeted areas, via the network of “French Tech correspondents” present in more than 60 administrations and public services, integration into certain economic diplomacy actions and visibility actions. They will also benefit from specific support provided by experts from the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

The winning start-ups will also have access to a community of high-potential companies, with experience sharing between French Tech Health20 entrepreneurs and other Mission French Tech programs.

François Braun, Minister of Health and Prevention, states:

“The challenges in the field of health are numerous, and the crises we have experienced have shown us, if it were necessary, the importance of having solutions in France. In this field, start-ups, along with other players in the sector, have a role to play. This is why it was important for the Ministry of Health and Prevention to fully associate itself with the initiative of the Mission French Tech and the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty. Our departments and agencies – in particular the Agency for Innovation in Health and the Digital Health Agency – will be working alongside entrepreneurs to help them continue to grow their innovations in France.”
