Launch of French Tech DeepNum20, the third sectoral program of the Mission French Tech

The sector programs of the French Tech Mission aim to support start-ups positioned in sectors identified as strategic in the framework of France 2030. After Green20 and Agri20, the third French Tech DeepNum20 sector program is aimed at French start-ups operating in the digital sectors: AI, nanoelectronics, electronic chips, robotics, cloud, 5G, quantum technologies, digital greening and cyber security. Interested start-ups have until September 21 to apply.

While the winning start-ups of the French Tech Green20 and French Tech Agri20 sector programs were announced in June and early July, the French Tech Mission has already launched the French Tech DeepNum20 program, and start-ups have been able to apply since July 29.

This third program will support French start-ups whose activities fall under the “Digital” and “Electronics and Robotics” components of the France 2030 plan, i.e., as a priority: nanoelectronics, electronic chips, robotics, cloud, 5G, AI, quantum technologies, digital greening and cybersecurity.

After submitting an application, start-ups’ applications will be studied by teams from Mission French Tech, the General Directorate of Business and also other experts from the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty.

As with the other sector programs, the shortlisted companies will then be auditioned by an independent panel of experts.

To be eligible for the program, start-ups must meet the following criteria:

  • The company’s head office must be located in France.
  • The company must be independent, i.e. have at least 51% of its capital.

Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister Delegate in charge of the Digital Transition and Telecommunications, states:

“While the digital transition is mobilizing the entire French economy, and the State at their side, the French Tech DeepNum20 program is an additional lever for action. It will allow us to support start-ups that innovate and develop solutions that are already indispensable today, in growth sectors. These start-ups strengthen France’s ability to provide trusted, high-performance and sovereign digital solutions. Our goal now, with this program, is to help them become European and global leaders.

The selected companies will be part of the 2022 French Tech DeepNum20 class. They will be able to benefit from a year of dedicated support from the government departments responsible for the targeted areas, via the network of French Tech correspondents present in more than 60 government departments and public services. They will also be able to integrate certain economic diplomacy and visibility actions.

Clara Chappaz, Director of the Mission French Tech, concludes:

“With the launch of the French Tech DeepNum20, Mission French Tech is strengthening its support offer for French start-ups . In addition to the Next40/French Tech 120, which brings together the 120 largest French start-ups, including all of our unicorns, the French Tech Green20, Agri20 and DeepNum20 programs allow us to expand our action towards start-ups located in strategic priority sectors.”
