On April 26, David Clark Cause, who is spearheading the Call for Code in partnership with IBM, the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights, and the Linux Foundation, announced the launch of the Global Challenge Call for Code 2022. Since its inception in 2018, more than 500,000 developers, students, startups, and NGOs from 180 countries have responded to the call and designed cutting-edge hybrid cloud and AI solutions powered by open source to solve major global societal challenges. So solutions can already be submitted on BeMyApp, the winner of the Global Challenge Grand Prize will receive $200,000, IBM and its partners will help with the implementation of their solution.

Philanthropist David Clark created the David Clark Cause, which is behind the Call for Code. For the 2021 edition, the Saaf Water project proposed by an Indian team, which tackled the problem of clean water, won the Global Challenge. The winner of the University Challenge was TRASHTAG, a project by a French team from ISEP, designed around blockchain and artificial intelligence to fight against the uncontrolled pollution of the oceans and natural environments while providing financial resources to the most fragile populations.
