Makila AI, Université de Montréal and SAGE Group launch a collaborative research project in artificial intelligence

As part of a partnership, Makila AI, a company specializing in the development of data analysis and prediction solutions based on artificial intelligence founded in 2017, the SAGE Group and Manuel Morales, from the University of Montreal, have announced the launch of a research project. The objective of this project is to analyze and explain the scientific reasoning of predictive data analysis algorithms in an approach that audits the results and respects the protection of personal data.

Funded by Prompt, this collaborative research project will focus on the analysis of the reasoning of data scientists in order to better understand it. The Makila AI team wants to develop a technological solution that will allow to visualize and explain in natural language the models generated taking into account the specific context of the company. This solution will provide the client with an interpretation of the results by accurately identifying, in real time, the data variables that influenced the result and the cumulative effect of different factors on it.

“The collaborative research project with Makila AI aims to explore issues of explicability of machine learning models in the field of finance and human resources,” says Manuel Morales, Associate Professor and researcher at the Université de Montréal.

“This strategic partnership will allow us to work on real-life use cases and to contribute to the transfer of technological knowledge through the development of mechanisms that integrate the notions of Explicability in artificial intelligence systems,” adds Manuel Morales.

The SAGE Group will also participate in the project. Daniel Lacombe, Senior Consultant at Groupe SAGE Consulting said:

“SAGE Group’s contribution to this project is to help our partners develop the rationale behind the models by relying on both what the scientific literature confirms about decision making and problem solving, and by validating it with our current and potential clients. In this way, we can support executives and all decision makers in understanding, planning and executing complex strategic projects.
