Industry 4.0: AIM Joins STPartner, STMicroelectronics’ Partner Program

AIM is a French manufacturer specializing in the development of embedded hardware and software, it creates industrial PLCs, from the simplest to the most complex and, in addition, has developed the “zero code” programming tool Agilia Intuitive Automation™. He has just joined STMicroelectronics’ STPartner program to provide intuitive solutions with ST products and technologies. STMicroelectronics, meanwhile, creates and manufactures semiconductor technologies including STM 32, components and microelectronic solutions. As part of the partnership, AIM’s Agilia Intuitive Automation™ graphical design workbench will be deployed on STMicroelectronics’ STM32 semiconductors.

The last decade has seen an acceleration in the development of new technologies that have enabled an industrial revolution: industry 4.0. A new generation of connected, robotized and intelligent factories has emerged in which employees, machines and products interact. The industrial sector is evolving and is now equipped with high-performance solutions (software, robots, etc.) to improve profitability, visibility, efficiency and responsiveness.

The STPartner program

STMicroelectronics surrounds itself with qualified partners that it has selected to ensure that its customers are put in touch with experts who can accelerate their design and development activities. With the help of these approved partners, they will be able to bring more robust products and more efficient services to market. Alessandro Maloberti, Director of Partner Ecosystems, STMicroelectronics said:

The ST Partner Program is a high-value offering that has exceeded the expectations of our customers and partners by helping customer design teams access additional robust skills, tools and resources that address design-to-market time-to-market challenges across the product ecosystem. and services while easily integrating ST devices into their projects.

AIM and STMicroelectronics

Guy Poujoulat, Director of AIM, a company founded in1977, has been developing the Agilia Intuitive Automation™ programming tool and industrial PLCs for over 20 years.

AIM collaborated with STMicrolectronics in a collaborative research project on automatic code generation. In this way, AIM focused on the particularities of STM32 microcontrollers to exploit their functionalities and accelerate development times.

The STM32 family of 32-bit microcontrollers based on the Arm® Cortex®-M processor is designed to offer new degrees of freedom to MCU users. It offers products that combine very high performance, real-time capabilities, digital signal processing, low-power/low-voltage operation and connectivity, while maintaining full integration and ease of development.

Subsequently, the validation of ST’s technologies in AIM’s industrial PLC range has resulted in the new Mateo modular system.

Mateo, the modular and scalable PLC range

Mateo is a range of PLCs designed for industrialists who want to easily implement their applications using the Agilia Intuitive Automation™ intuitive development environment.

This tool optimizes the use of human-machine interfaces (HMI ) on Din rail mounted systems. Ultra-compact, Mateo also provides communications over Ethernet, industrial fieldbuses and 4G network communications for automation up to 87 I/Os.

Based on STM32F7 Arm® Cortex-M7, Mateo offers respectable power to meet the needs of Industry 4.0.

Its simplicity of implementation makes it an immediate access product. This solution is also scalable: professional developers will find in the software package all the tools they need to adapt Mateo to their business.

Agilia, the graphic design platform

With the Agilia workshop tools, developers can quickly design, simulate and prototype all aspects of their application without a single line of code :

  • STM32 device management, real-time control of industrial interfaces;
  • 4G communications, industrial fieldbus;
  • Human-Machine Interface editors and embedded web site.

Agilia accelerates the programming of applications, HMIs, distributed systems and embedded websites.

For more performance, AIM brings the µOne-PLC real-time tool that allows to increase the features of the Agilia workshop. Its Eclipse® based plugins provide STMicroelectronics customers with a common ecosystem to enhance and develop their C sources.

Joint participation in the Sido exhibition in Paris

To formalize their relationship, AIM and STMicroelectronics participated in the Sido Paris trade show last November.

On this occasion, the AIM group presented its Agilia programming software, which has been proven on STMicroelectronics’ STM32 microcontrollers in industrial applications.
