IA4AI Hackathon: using all the capabilities of AI and machine learning for industry 4.0

Organized by ArianeGroup, Atos and SKF Magnetic Mechatronics, with Techniques de l’Ingénieur and the support of Mathworks, the IA4AI Hackathon is designed to allow candidates to explore the possibilities offered by algorithms in industrial applications. Since September 22, it is possible to register for this competition that will begin on October 20. The challenge is open to anyone specialized in AI and machine learning and it is possible to participate alone or in a team.

A Hackathon to better exploit the full capabilities of AI for industry

In the era of digital transformation and Industry 4.0, the industrial sector is full of data and innovative tools. The deployment of algorithms, their training with provided databases and their execution have been facilitated by the increased performance of computer systems (CPU, GPU, etc.). Nevertheless, the sector is not exploiting all the data processing and analysis capabilities offered by AI.

With this in mind, ArianeGroup, Atos and SKF are offering AI specialists (start-ups, students, researchers, etc.) the opportunity to explore the full range of possibilities offered by algorithms, and more specifically by machine learning, that can be exploited in the cloud or at the edge of the industry, within the framework of a competition.

In the framework of the AI4IA Hackathon (for “Artificial Intelligence For Industrial Application), participants will have to understand a database of time series (Multivariate Time Series) extracted from a concrete industrial application in order to establish a prediction model (Time Serie Forecasting).

The AI4IA Hackathon process

From October 20th, all participants will receive a case study in the form of a database from a concrete application. They will have to use all the resources provided and work on the first dataset for a period of two weeks. On November 3, 2021, a first deliverable with a description of the methodology used and a scientific script (notebook) will be submitted for analysis by a jury of scientific experts.

Five projects will then be selected to continue the challenge. On November 24, a second dataset will be given to the five finalists and they will have until December 8 to submit a notebook, a description of the methodology used and a pitch deck of about ten minutes to present their idea.

Following this, on December 15, 2021, the finalists will have the opportunity to present their project during the final which will be broadcast from the Space Campus in front of clients and management of ArianeGroup, Atos, SKF, Techniques de l’ingénieur and MathWorks, with the support of Seine Normandie Agglomération. These pitches will be followed by the Awards Ceremony:

  • For third place: a financial award of 2,000 euros, access to the engineer’s technical documentation resources for 2,000 euros and 500 US dollars in AWS credits.
  • For second place: a financial prize of 3,000 euros, access to the engineer’s technical documentation resources for 2,500 euros and 1,000 US dollars in AWS credits.
  • First place: €5,000, access to €3,000 of engineer’s technical resources and US$1,500 in AWS credits.
  • A special prize for the team members who used the MATLAB platform and achieved the best possible result: €1,000 in Amazon gift certificates to share.

It is possible to register, alone or in teams (4 members maximum) by following the link below.
